The Train To Prague

Genre: Ambient/Alternative

Following the collapse of the communist regime in 1993, Czechoslovakia dissolved into the two states of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The split was peaceful. Or so the world thought. On the Slovakian border town of Cierna nad Tisoum, Soviet loyalists occupied a church in the center of town and took a handful of people hostage. Among them was an American freelance journalist and photographer, Monica Breslin. At a time when the initial World Trade Center bombing pushed all other news to the periphery, this incident fell off the pages of the newspapers. Almost. Back in Breslin's home town of Joseph, Oregon, a long lost love of Breslin's caught wind of the incident and grabbed a backpack. Using connections from his Navy Seals days, he boarded a C-130 Super Hercules bound for Frankfurt. From there he would take passage on a train headed to Prague, which in turn would lead him to the final destination.

To those who later learned the details of the trip and its bloody outcome, the episode of the man's journey came to be referred to as "The Calm Before The Slovakian Shit Storm".
